September 2012 update~

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the 9th month of the year, that time when summer begins to wind down and the winds of fall start knocking the leaves off the trees. Not to mention there is a slight easing in the summer’s heat. Living in one of the states hit so hard with drought these last few years, I can truly say that we are looking forward to the coming winter, and hoping the snows will fly and bring us some much-needed moisture. We’ve seen a little rain off and on, but hardly enough to restore the water levels to our wells. Cross your fingers some good old-fashioned snowy blizzards hit these desert plains.

But you aren’t here for a weather report, are you. No, I bet you want to know what’s happening with the books I’ve promised to write. First, I’ll have to admit up front that I have a lot of irons in the fire. Unfortunately everything takes time and not everyone works on my schedule, which means I think everything should happen yesterday and immediately. So, I’m going to give you the honest truth.

The Resurrectionist has been temporarily put on TBA status. This isn’t because I am not working on the book, but because I decided it was such a damn good idea that it warranted a look-see by an agent for possible representation to the big houses. Yes, I have it in the hands of an agent now. I am waiting for a decision to find out if she will take me on as a client. If she does, that will be a big who-hoo! I really would love to work with her, as she reps some of my favorite authors. I am hoping to have an answer some time in September.

With that book brewing, I began drafting out the novella “Why Not Me?” This was announced as a short. Well, the idea blossomed into a much longer book, which I have decided to aim toward Harlequin’s Blaze imprint. I’ll be working on that through September. Should they accept it, wonderful! If not, I’m going to submit it toward a few other outlets I’ve got in mind. One way or another, it will appear. Just don’t know where and when yet. When I know, you will, too.

Lastly, I am still working on  the first Witching Hours book, Incantation — which I plan to put out sometime next year. This series will loosely tie into the world-building of the “Eternity” books. Speaking of those, I am told that Echoes of Angels will soon be out in print. I am hoping it will be in time for the Halloween giveaway I am planning. Descent of Demons (Book 2) is also planned for release in print and eBook.

So there you have it. As much as I wish it were easy, a writer’s career is never a smooth or painless road to travel. There are delays, depressions, failures and, sometimes, even successes to celebrate. This last year has been a lot of ups and downs, stops and starts, splutters and splats. I’m still hanging in there, though, and hope you’ll hang with me as the adventure continues.

Cheers!
