Dear Readers,
Well, I can honestly say that 2013 wasn’t a great year. Last December started with the news that my stepfather’s cancer was terminal. The New Year began as badly as the old one ended, when the water heater went out–not once, but twice! Through the months, the family went through a long illness as my stepfather’s health began to decline. Watching someone slowly fade is stressful, and my writing went by the wayside as his end days approached. During that time, a family has a lot of paperwork to go through, which includes a lot of time, confusion and frustration as the insurance and other government agencies do not make it easy to navigate the path to finalizing a dying person’s affairs and final wishes. There is a lot of work, a lot of phone calls and a lot of yelling going on.
My stepfather passed away August 17. In that time, many changes have happened, including a move to a new place, a reorganization of life as it was once known, and dealing with the stresses that come after someone passes away. I haven’t gotten much done in 2013, but I am determined to get things back on track for 2014.
But I don’t want 2013 to be an entire loss. To celebrate the holiday season, I am giving away a new Kindle eReader!
